All you have to know about the handover

First things first: nothing will change for you. All booked activities are taking place as planned and remain available under the management of Zermatters. You can find additional information about the handover and answers to any questions you may have in the Q&A below.

Thank you for your trust and have fun on your future mountain sports adventures!

What led to the decision to hand over the Mammut Alpine School to Zermatters?

The Mammut Alpine School has developed in a very positive way as a mountain school. However, Mammut’s core business is producing high-quality outdoor products designed for mountain experiences. The Mammut Alpine School, as an additional asset, increased the internal complexity at Mammut. With the decision to focus on its core business, Mammut concluded that it wanted to hand over the alpine school to a suitable partner.

How does the change of ownership affect me as a customer?
This step does not lead to any noticeable changes for you as a customer. All booked activities are taking place as planned and remain available under the management of Zermatters.

When does the handover to Zermatters take place?

Beginning in September 2022, Zermatters is taking over the daily business for the upcoming winter season, while the Mammut Alpine School will bring the summer operations to a close.

What will happen to the current Mammut Alpine School location in Andermatt?

The location in Andermatt will be taken over and carried on by Zermatters.

On tours of the Mammut Alpine School, it was possible to test Mammut products like Avalanche Airbags and Hardshell Jackets. Will this still be the case on the Zermatters tours?

Mammut remains Zermatters' equipment partner. Therefore, this service will remain available.

What is going to happen to Mammut Alpine School employees and mountain guides?
The handover of the Mammut Alpine School to Zermatters is a sign of continuity – for its customers, employees, and mountain guides alike. This step does not lead to any noticeable changes for you as a customer. All booked activities are taking place as planned and remain available under the management of Zermatters.

Zermatters will continue to work with the Mammut Alpine School mountain guides. At the same time, a follow-up solution was found for all employees, either at Mammut or at Zermatters.

What will the collaboration between Zermatters and Mammut look like from now on?

The handover will foster the long-standing partnership between Mammut and Zermatters in the long term. The company Mammut, the Mammut Alpine School, its customers, and Zermatters will benefit from this step.

What is the alpine school called in the future?

The Mammut Alpine School will be fully integrated into Zermatters. As soon as the summer operations are brought to a close, the name changes to “Zermatters Alpine School”.

Will the Mammut Alpine School activities increasingly take place in Valais under the lead of Zermatters?

No. The offered activities will remain the same under the management of Zermatters.
