Two 4,000-meter peaks with snowshoes (CH) | 3.5 days

A snowshoe trek in a class of its own, between the Saas and Matter valleys, through the Mischabel Group. It's a totally new experience to reach a 4,000-meter peak with snowshoes. On this tour, you'll

have the chance to tackle two peaks over the magical 4,000-meter line.


Alpine technique: basic course or similar prior knowledge required; Terrain: longer steep sections and traverses, also over glaciers


Duration from 7 to 9 hours, up to approx. 1,500 vertical meters, approx. 350 vertical meters per hour.

The offer is held in German. Therefore, a basic understanding of German is important. Our mountain guides have a basic knowledge of English and can provide the necessary information in English. Often there are helpful guests on the tours and courses who are happy to help with the translation.

Day 1Individual arrival in Saas Fee and welcome by the mountain guide. After welcome drinks, the schedule will be discussed and you

can look forward to a fine evening dinner.

Day 2From Saas Fee, a train will take you into the alpine world in next to no time. Starting from Mittelallalin, it's a steady climb to the

Feejoch and on to your first 4,000-meter peak, the Allalinhorn at 4,027 m. Descent is via the ascent route. Then, from Felskinn station, it's a comfortable ascent over the

Chessjen Glacier to the Brintannia Hut. (Distance: km; Hiking time: approx. 5 hours; Ascent/Descent: 800/600 vertical meters).

Day 3On day three you'll explore the back of the Allalinhorn. You will reach the Allalin Pass at 3,557 m via the Allalin Glacier and then go

on across the Mellich and Alphubel glaciers to arrive at the Täsch Hut. (Distance: 10 km; Hiking time: approx. 6 hours, Ascent/Descent: 800/1,150 vertical meters). Day 4From the Täsch Hut, the mountain guide will lead you across the Chummibodmen up to the Alphubeljoch. Just another good 400 vertical meters separate you from the broad Alphubel summit plateau at 4,206 meters. From here it's a comfortable train ride back to Saas Fee. (Distance: 10 km; Hiking time: approx. 8 hours, Ascent/Descent: 1,550/1,400 vertical meters).

  • 1x Functional socks and 1x spare socks
  • Warm, robust winter shoes, must be laceable and have solid soles or mountain boots
Overnight cottage
  • Own toiletries, ear plugs if required
  • Clothes to wear in the hut andhotel (Minimum)
  • Slipper socks are at the hut
  • Sleeping bag liner made of silk or cotton (for hygienic reasons)
  • SAC/Alpine Club member card (if avalaible)
  • Breakfast and dinner at a hotel or a hut
