Bernese Haute Route

From the Jungfraujoch over 6 glaciers to the Goms (CH) | 5 days

This tour is already a classic in summer. And the fact that such a long tour is possible in winter too makes it an attractive option. Our trek will take us over a total of six glaciers, traveling from one hut to the next. A tour packed with new experiences and discoveries against the backdrop of the iconic peaks of the Bernese Oberland.

Program
Day 1
Individual arrival at Jungfraujoch. We will trek over the mighty Jungfraufirn down to the Konkordiaplatz, the meeting point of 5 glaciers – the Jungfraufirn, Grosser Aletschfirn, Ewig Schneefeld, Grüneggfirn and Grosser Aletschgletscher. We will then take the famous Konkordia ladders to the Konkordia Hut. (Distance: 8 km. Hiking time: 3 hours; Ascent/Descent: 150/850 vertical meters).
Day 2
The Finsteraarhorn Hut is today's destination. As the first rays of sun hit the Fiescher Gabelhorn peaks on the right and those of the Grünhorn on the left, you’ll see for yourself the truth of the claim that trekking tours open up a completely new perspective of the mountain world. The ascent on the Grüneggfirn to the Grünhornlücke is easy to manage. At the Finsteraar Hut, you can enjoy the amazing view of the glacier landscape. (Distance: 6 km. Hiking time: 5 hours; Ascent/Descent: 500/300 vertical meters).
Day 3
Today's itinerary surely won’t let you down, with spectacular views over the Valais peaks and, of course, the Matterhorn. We will make our way along the Fiescher Glacier via Rotloch and the Galmi and Studer glaciers to the Oberaarjoch Hut. This hut is reached via an iron ladder. (Distance: 8 km. Hiking time: 5 hours; Ascent/Descent: 500/300 vertical meters).
Day 4
The next morning, we will make our way to the Furka and Grimsel area, which is much flatter than the Valais side. The group will ascend by rope over the Oberaar Glacier to the Oberaarsee reservoir and from there to the Grimsel Pass. We will spend the night on the pass in the Grimsel Passhöhe Hotel. (Distance: 14 km. Hiking time: 6 hours. Ascent/Descent: 250/1,100 vertical meters).
Day 5
To round off the tour, we will scale another beautiful panoramic mountain, the Sidelhorn at 2,704 meters; you will have the chance of taking in the view of the mighty north faces of the Finsteraarhorn, Lauteraarhorn and Schreckhorn. In the distance, we can once again enjoy the view of the Valais Alps before making our way over rolling alpine terrain down to Oberwald. (Distance: 8 km. Hiking time: 4 hours; Ascent/Descent: 550/11,200 vertical meters).
